ZElder asked me to look at this match and post my $0.02. Well I can say from experience, having played soccer for a Portuguese team when I was younger, that they hate to lose and I was always afraid of the fans after a loss. I didn’t speak the language but I got the message when they spit, screamed and threw objects at us when we left the field.

Sporting Lisbon +1 (-110)

Lazio need a win and they need a win BIG and Vaslui must lose. If they both win, then Vaslui will be moving on with a better head to head record. Sporting have already qualified for the knock out stage and are bringing five reserve players with them to Rome.

Sporting is enjoying a four match winning streak. They have an attack mentality supported by a fantastic back four. This team has been suffocating its competitors by limiting their space on the field. Sporting has Speed and Wing Play vs. a Lazio team that relies on sluggish midfield Ball Possession.

Lazio are still stammering through the early part of their Serie A season. They have been inconsistent, it seems they have trouble holding on to leads, and from what I have been reading are struggling to maintain TOP match fitness levels (it’s probably why they are blowing a lot of leads).

I know how bad the Portuguese love to win every game, Domingo was quoted as saying they will play to win (come on - who doesn’t). But he has to consider the fact that this game is meaningless, he will rest key players and as such I can’t back them 100% to win outright.

I believe the lines makers have factored in the fact that Sporting will be resting players and Lazio need to win. Unfortunately, attack football is an uncharacteristic style for Lazio who are facing an excellent defense. The forced attack plan may very well leave the Roman team exposed enough to lose. Risk vs. Reward leaves Lazio no other choice.

To answer ZElder’s initial question, I would back your Sporting Lisbon ML wager with Sporting Lisbon +1. There is an 80% chance that Lazio WILL NOT WIN by 2 or more goals and a 9% probability that Sporting Lisbon win straight up.

All of SP Lisbon Europa road fixtures have gone UNDER the posted total. Having already clinched the Group, fielding a few reserves... this game has potential to go over. This depends if Schaars and van Wolfswinkel see the pitch as well. Lazio does need a favorable result to advance, so I expect them to play slightly more dynamic than the typical possession and counter...

In a must win situation at home, I would lay the juice here and take Lazio -1 (-120)

I have more knowledge of the EPL teams so here is my take:

Tottenham -1 (-135) over Shamrock. Tottenham is pretty much eliminated from Europa, and have a favorable matchup in EPL this weekend at White Hart Lane vs Sunderland. I'd expect them to field a competitive squad on the road and beat Shamrock by 2+ goals.

Fulham -1.5 (-150) over Odense BK. Playing at the Cottage in a game where it's safe to say, MUST WIN. Their next EPL fixture is vs Bolton. FC Twente is already through, so I'd expect some reserves to play on the road.

Besitkas -110 over Stoke City.

lastguyoffthabench - Lazio has no ammo and they aren't built to score many goals. ZElder was looking at hitting the Sporting ML and wanted an opinion so it's nice to see that you chimmed in and added yours. I hope he makes the right call. I will not wager on this match.

Still looking at all of the matches for tomorrow and I have to agree with your Fulham -1.5. I will be posting my preview later since I am leaving for work very early tomorrow morning.

Sorry but I am posting my plays without a preview. Had to deal with some bad news this evening so I am unable to focus on the write ups. I had my choice made earlier and here it is:

Dynamo Kyiv -1.5 (-145)

- Dynamo have a slim shot at advancing and they wont disappoint a paying audience at home.
- Tel-Aviv will be playing in Zero degree weather and with freezing fog.
- The Russians dominate in this weather.
- FYI: It is 70 degrees farenheit in Tel-Aviv. LOL
- The Israelis won't care if they lose 10-0 in a meaningless game where they will rest players too.

Forgot to mention one very important fact: The Ukranians have to make up a four goal differential to tie Besiktas and advance and Besiktas need to lose to the Potters.

Appreciate you taking the time to take a peek at that.

I know US football, baseball, and basketball......but pretty ignorant on the International sports; however, I am playing small bets and trying to get a feel for how they work. So far, I have seen HUGE home field advantages and an incredible number of UNDERS.

I'm not afraid to admit that I am learning how to cap these games........as the saying goes, "You've got to crawl before you can walk"

I will be checking your thread as much as I can , and really appreciate you coming on and posting these........

If you have any other pointers or sites that you religiously check out for info other than our forum and you don't mind sharing.....I'd love to get that from you....

Thanks again

WOW!!!

There is some late action on the Sporting v Lazio match.

The respectable books, Greek, Pinny, Bet365 have Lazio -1 at +130 and some have it OFFLINE.

The Micky Mouse books like Bodog still have Lazio -1 at -130.

I may watch this game too. There could be a spoiler in the works!!!

Another bad European night for the English teams. Fulham crashes out and Stoke loses to Besiktas. Tonight it will be Tottenham's turn to crash out of the tournament. Betting they win but for no use...

Wow. I didn't see the match live. Taped it and watched it until the 2nd Red card.

This was Dynamo's game and their poor discipline cost us all. IHMO. The Reds were justified.

Poor discipline with everything on the line. I will keep this in mind next time they are in a do or die situation.

Moving on.
